Nutrition

HEDGEHOG

A HEDGEHOG'S DIET SHOULD CONSIST OF: 14-16% FAT

& 30-35% PROTEIN.

PROTEIN SHOULD NOT TOP 36%, UNLESS IT IS FROM QUALITY MEAT INGREDIENTS.

Too much protein from plants and other sources can damage kidneys and liver over time.

Hedgehog food is NOT a quality food! Some even contain saw dust!

Avoid foods

if the first 5

ingredients contain peas, pea protein,

pea fiber, or other pea ingredients.

Try staying away from corn, lentils, chickpeas and wheat if they are listed in the first 5 ingredients.

GRAIN FREE is recommended as well.

Bugs are important! Some suggestions are: mealworms, superworms, dubia roaches, crickets and waxworms.

Care

HEDGEHOG

Hedgehogs are exotic animals. They are not like your average pet hamster or guinea pig. Hedgehogs are nocturnal. They require special diets, exotic vets, bonding time, daily cage cleaning, and a temperature setting of 75-80 degrees at all times.  A pet is a lifelong commitment. The life span of a hedgehog is approximately 3-5 years. With proper love and care, hedgehogs can make exceptional companions, but please do your research before adopting one.
